Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need planning permission?
It depends on your local municipality and the scope of the project. Simple pre-fabricated islands usually don't. However, running permanent electrical, gas, and plumbing lines will strictly require permits and inspections.
Can I put a grill under a covered patio?
Yes, but you must install a high-CFM outdoor vent hood extending over the grill. Building codes stipulate minimum clearances to combustible materials, usually requiring an insulated grill jacket as well.
What is the best countertop material?
Granite and Dekton (ultra-compact surfacing) are the top choices. Avoid quartz outdoors; the resin binding the stone will yellow and crack under direct UV exposure.
How much space is needed around a grill?
We recommend a minimum of 24 inches of landing space on one side of the grill for platters, and 12-18 inches on the opposite side for tools and marinades.
